Registration / Season Timeline (updated 3/12/21)
For 2021 only, Baseball and Softball registration will be open to all players who live anywhere in Brownsville, even outside of our normal registration zone. At this time, we are registering 9-14 year olds only to comply with COVID PROTOCOLS. Registration for the T-Ball, Coach-Pitch, and our new Challenger Division will likely begin in June-July, subject to board approval. Players will be required to wear masks, bring their own hand sanitizer, and social distance, where possible, as detailed in our 2021 Re-Opening Guidelines.
2021 SEASON REGISTRATION (9-14 YEAR OLDS ONLY)
PRIORITY REGISTRATION: March 13 - 20*
* Priority Registration will be open only for returning players who have not requested a refund for the postponed 2020 season. Returning Players must register through the online registration portal during these dates to guarantee themselves a spot on a roster. Full credit will be given for all fees or grants earned and not refunded for the postponed 2020 season.
REGULAR REGISTRATION: March 21 - 28*
* Regular Registration will be open to all new or returning players on a first come, first served basis, subject to space limitations. Refunds will be available to all players who cannot find space on a team.
ONLINE REGISTRATION PORTAL: Open 24/7, March 13 - 27
Online registration is available 24/7 through our online registration portal sponsored by Dick's Sporting Goods. Click on the Online Registration tab on the main menu to access the site.
IN-PERSON REGISTRATION: March 27 (4-6pm); March 28 (10am-noon)
In-person registration will take place on a limited basis and only at West Brownsville Little League Park (directions). Please bring a birth certificate to show proof of age.
REGISTRATION FEES:
The registration fee to play at WBLL is currently set at $50. However, there are discounts for registering more than brother or sister. The cost for registering a second sibling is $40 and $30 for a third. There is no cost for registering a fourth player or beyond. The registration fee includes a team jersey and cap. It also includes all coach's equipment fees and all umpire game fees that are usually charged by other leagues on a per game basis. Parents are also expected to participate in the league fundraiser by selling all tickets provided.
LEAGUE AGE REQUIREMENTS:
If your child is between the ages of 4 and 14 according to the league age charts, they have met the first eligibility requirement to play. To determine your child's league age, please refer to the tab labeled "Determining League Age" on the left-hand side of our main page.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS:
Little League rules require players to play within their zone. A player is considered to be in our zone if they live or attend school within the West Brownsville Little League in-zone area. To find out if you are in our zone, please refer to the tab labeled "Map" located on the left-hand side of our main page. On the pull down menu, click on "Boundary Map". The boundary map can be zoomed in to look for your child's school or place of residence. If you are inside the red highlighted area, you have met the second eligibility requirement to play. For 2021 only, the residency requirement has been waived. All players who live anywhere in Brownsville will be allowed to register, subject to roster spots available on a team.

EQUIPMENT:
In addition to registration fees, a parent needs to provide their child with a few basic pieces of equipment, such as: baseball pants, baseball glove, baseball socks/shoes. Other equipment that is recommended, but not required for practice at home is: appropriate-sized baseball bat, a few baseballs and/or wiffleballs, and a net for use as a backstop. For 2021 only, to comply with COVID Protocols, all players must bring their own masks, hand sanitizer, appropriate-sized baseball bat, and baseball helmet.
MANDATORY BASEBALL TRYOUTS FOR THE FOLLOWING:
(BASEBALL ONLY; SOFTBALL - TO BE DETERMINED)
1) All NEW players who did not register in 2020.
2) All RETURNING players who were in coach-pitch in 2020.
3) All RETURNING players league age 11-12 who were not selected for a majors division team in 2020.
4) All RETURNING players league age 10 who were in minors in 2020 who wish to be considered for the majors division.

* Please also note that players returning to a majors division team are waived of the tryout requirement. Players should be prepared to test their skills with infield grounders, outfield fly balls, throwing, and timed running, Players only need to try out once. COVID Protocols require masks, hand sanitizer, and social distancing, as much as reasonably possible, of all players. Players should bring their own water, glove, baseball shoes, cap, and shorts or baseball pants. Sharing of equipment and water is not allowed. To lessen overcrowding, please arrive no sooner than 30 minutes before your scheduled time to warm up arms and legs. Parents should bring their own chairs to sit in the outfield, as bleachers will be reserved for players only.
DRAFT:

The player draft is for the Minors and Majors divisions coaches only. Coaches have the opportunity to select their team rosters, as per our current bylaws. All other levels of play are by blind draft, where teams are assembled by random draw.
RULES CLINIC: TBA
This clinic is designed to go over rules that are unique to Little League Baseball / Softball, including recent changes to last year's rules. It is designed to give ALL coaches, regardless of their level of experience, a refresher on Little League rules. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and take notes. The class will be taught by our Head Umpire. Bring something to write with to take good notes for future reference. Clinic should last approximately 2 - 2 1/2 hours and is highly recommended for ALL coaches and assistant coaches to attend.
