Determining League Age (updated 8/10/24)
Children from 4 years old to 14 can be Little Leaguers®. With several age-specific divisions, there are fun, competitive baseball and softball opportunities for boys and girls around the world.
But, before players can put on their Little League uniform, they need to determine their league age. To learn a player’s league age, Little League uses an Age Determination Date, with both Little League Baseball® and Little League Softball® having different dates.
Little League’s baseball and softball divisions do have slight differences regarding the age classification of players. Based on the number of players registering to play in a given season, each local league has the option to adjust the age groupings of the players in their league, in accordance with Little League rules and regulations. This allows all participants, from Tee Ball and Coach Pitch to Senior League and Big League, to have a fun, meaningful experience.
With a few exceptions made by parent request, WBLL uses the following divisions and ages to group players to keep players as evenly matched as possible to help ensure fun games for all:
T-BALL: 4-6 years old players
COACH-PITCH: 7-8 year old players
MINORS: 9-11 year old players (8 year old players permitted by special exception, if space permits)
MAJORS: 10-12 year old players
JUNIORS: 13-14 year old players
