Today is finally here!
After almost two years of waiting, WBLL will finally be back in action tonight. It’s been a tough two years for kids, parents, coaches, and board members to be without a sport we love. Since 1952, WBLL has been in continuous operation, having served the community with pride and purpose. Like most others, we have been humbled by the loss of things we took for granted such as playing a simple game of baseball or softball. Tonight, we get to regain one of our simple pleasures.
But, before we do so, we owe a big thank you to our city commission, our parks department, our donors, our special contributors, and our hard working board members. Without them, tonight and this season would not be possible.
Over the last three years, our park was blessed with makeover, which started with a discussion amongst board members and then became a vision of what we thought our kids deserved. Thankfully, after several rounds of league fundraisers, private donations, grants, and matching funds from our city commission, we are ready to play ball.
With all that said, we would like to invite the public to come out to watch a game or two over the next five week’s of games. Games will be nightly, Monday through Friday, and on Saturday throughout part of the day. If you do come out, we ask that you practice social distancing and wear a mask for the safety of everyone around you including our kids, coaches, and umpires.
Thank you, once again, to everyone......LET’S PLAY BALL!!’
