Each Little League® season concludes with International Tournament play for Little Leaguers® in seven divisions. The tournament trail begins in early June and leads to seven World Series tournaments in July and August.
The oldest and best-known championship tournament is the annual Little League Baseball® World Series held in late August in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, with games held in Howard J. Lamade Stadium and Little League Volunteer Stadium. The Little League Softball® World Series is held each summer in Greenville, North Carolina.
The other five Teenage Divisional World Series tournaments are held at sites across the United States. It is the culmination of many weeks of local league play.
District: This is the first level of play. Most district tournaments begin around the first or second week of June. West Brownsville is part of Texas West District 24, which encompasses the Rio Grande Valley. Tournaments are held throughout the Rio Grande Valley at league parks to determine District Champions of each division in Baseball and Softball.
Sectionals: District winners advance to Area Sectionals. West Brownsville and all leagues from Corpus Christi to Alice to Laredo and southward are part of Texas West Section 4. Sectional tournaments rotate throughout the Section 4 area. Sectional winners advance to the Texas West State Tournament, currently being held in Abilene, Texas.
State: State tournaments are generally played around the last week of July or the first week of August. Most of these tournaments are played in a standard double-elimination format. State champions for divisions that are age 10-12 (Majors) and older advance to US Regional Tournaments. Texas West Champions advance to US Southwest Regionals.
US Regionals: Regional tournaments are usually played in late July or the first or second week of August at various locations throughout the USA. Regional champions advance to the International World Series.
International World Series: This is the final level of tournament play. There are seven World Series tournaments: Little League (age 10-12) Baseball®, Little League (age 11-13) Intermediate (50/70) Baseball, Junior League (age 12-14) Baseball, Senior League (age 13-15) Baseball, Little League (age 10-12) Softball®, Junior League (age 12-14) Softball, and Senior League (age 13-15) Softball.
