The AllStar tournament came to an end for two more of our WBLL teams. However, one plays for the district championship this evening.
In the 10-11 year old division tournament, the WBLL team's season came to an end, losing 0-12 against the Edinburg AllStar team. The game was played in two parts because the first night's meeting was stopped in the 3rd inning because the lights at the Laguna Madre LL Park would not go on.
In the 9-10 year old division, the WBLL team made it to the district championship final series. The game was played at Harlingen's Pendleton Park against the Rio Grande City AllStars. In game one, the WBLL team played a close game, leading in every inning up until the bottom of the 5th, when RGC scored two runs to go up by one. RGC won the game 5-4, after our WBLL team stranded the tying and go ahead runs in scoring position. In game two the following evening, the RGC AllStars took advantage of WBLL errors and great hitting on their part to win the game 10-1, ending the season for our WBLL team.
In the senior division, the WBLL team has remained undefeated and plays for the district championship this evening. We' are keeping our fingers crossed and hoping for the best.
Congratulations to all players, coaches, and especially to parents for giving kids the opportunity to play and learn from this most awesome game!
