After several weeks of hard work, we are pleased to report that our WBLL Park Beautification and Improvement Project is on target for success.
At tonight’s meeting, the Brownsville City Commission agreed to match the contributions we have already accumulated. The city agreed to donate $174,000 to our project, plus asked us to add extra playground equipment. This donation gives us a total of $348,000 towards our goal.
The total funds raised will go towards the following:
1) the first universal miracle field in the RGV designed for T-ballers and special needs children
2) trees and benches added throughout the park
3) a special needs bathroom
4) new scoreboards for our existing fields
5) a team party pavilion
6) batting cages
7) an outfield audience deck for the majors field
8) a new and improved parking lot
9) landscape grading to improve drainage
10) new playground equipment inclusive of special needs children
11) redesign of our current dugouts
12) an exercise walking path throughout the park
A big round of thank you’s is owed to all of our donors, who will be recognized on a later date, our Co-Project Managers Rene Capistran and Damaris McGlone, Congressman Eddie Lucio III, Doro Garcia for his pictorial renditions, Interim City Manager Michael Lopez, our City Commissioners, and especially to Commissioner Joel Mungia for all of his dedication to our cause. ❤️
